How is FynTime different from built-in parental controls?
Most parental control software on Windows is notoriously easy for kids to bypass using Task Manager, taskkill commands, renaming executables, or moving games into user-writable folders like Downloads. FynTime uses a hardened dual-service architecture: an authoritative monitor service (Keeper MR) and an independent safeguard service (Keeper RS). It neutralizes high-risk execution escapes, inspects cryptographic signers, and maintains deny-wins path protection at the system level.
What happens when my child runs out of screen time?
FynTime is designed to be fair and respectful, not jarring. Children receive gentle countdown warnings at 5 minutes and 1 minute remaining so they have time to save their progress and say goodbye to friends. When time expires, monitored apps are cleanly paused or closed. Kids can also submit a polite one-click request for extra time directly to the parent console.
How do Shared App Groups work?
Instead of setting 1 hour for Minecraft, 1 hour for Roblox, and 1 hour for Steam—which lets a child game for 3 hours—you can place all gaming titles into a single “Games” group with a shared 90-minute limit. Time spent across any game in the group deducts from that single shared pool.
Does FynTime log keystrokes, view screens, or access webcams?
No. While FynTime monitors running processes to accurately track active app usage and manage family time limits, it is focused strictly on screen time boundaries. We do not record keystrokes, inspect private messages, capture webcams, or sell family data. All usage records and limits are transparently visible to both parents and kids.
Does protection still work if my child disconnects the Wi-Fi?
Yes. The local Keeper service caches schedules and quotas locally on the device in a durable encrypted state. Even without an active internet connection or in airplane mode, daily limits, bedtime schedules, and safe path rules remain active and reliable. Once reconnected, usage automatically reconciles with the cloud console.
Can I manage devices from my phone?
Yes. Parents can manage family schedules, approve requests, and grant instant time extensions on the go using our Flutter parent app on Android or via the mobile web console from any phone browser. Android device supervision (the kids companion app) is coming soon.
